BERTRAM R. EISNER 91

Bertram Eisner passed away peacefully on September 27th, 2017 in Nashville Tennessee. He was born in Chicago on March 12th, 1926 to Louis and Ida Eisner, the second of two sons. Bert served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, achieving the rank of Seaman First Class. Upon his return, he received a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Roosevelt University and then completed his law degree at Northwestern. He married Margaret Mirotsnic, his best friend and love of his life, on December 17th, 1949.

In 1951, Bert was admitted to the Illinois Bar and maintained this status through most of his life. Marge and Bert had two children, Janet and Scott, born in 1951 and 1953 respectively. He joined his parents in operating the family business, Sheridan Bazaar Hardware, a landmark in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. In 1973, Marge and Bert moved to Nashville, where they started a new life as McDonald’s franchisees, with their life-long friends Gunder and Clara Mayer. After retirement, they continued to live in Nashville, enjoying visits each year with their four grandchildren.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Hilbert. He is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, daughter and son-in-law, Jay and Janet Cornish; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Francine Eisner; grandchildren Daniel (Courtney), Leah (Brett), Stephanie and Ryan.
