I knew Dick Laner as the chief negotiator for numerous teacher contracts in school district 126 in Alsip Illinos. He represented the school board and I was a member of the union negotiating team. He was clever and very intelligent. He was also intimidating, impatient, frequently sarcastic, and occasionally dismissive but when he gave his word, you could take it to the bank. I learned a lot from him. I also had the opportunity, though brief, to get to know him away from the negotiating table. I found him to be very approachable, kind, and considerate - a real gentleman. Thanks for the education Mr. Laner. Shalom gentle man Dick Laner.

Dick Laner, my mentor, my Partner in law, my friend and a person I looked up to and highly respected. As lawyers in our firm, he made many of us, who we are today. He instilled a passion in us to become fierce advocates with the ability to reach across the table and have a relationship with the those on the other side, especially with Unions, their members and Union Counsel something rare and unique these days. Because of Dick, the firm he built which bares his name is highly respected, is known for its integrity, honesty and zealous advocacy to its clients, much learned from the lessons Dick Laner instilled in us from the moment we walked into the firm. Because of Dick, the firm has deep rooted ethics and deep personal relationships with our clientele that is extremely rare. I am in shock and deeply saddened by my his passing. Without Dick, many in our firm would not be in the positions we are today, highly respected lawyers in our area of practice and considered as one of the best Labor and Employment firms in America. I was honored to know Dick for about 8 years working with him on a private company board. Dick was so knowledgeable in so many facets of life. I send my deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones. God just got one of his "Good Guys" back home. God Bless you Dick it was a privilege to have known you.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Dick's death. He and I worked together for many years at the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce, and we also exchanged ideas from time to time in our respective law practices. Dick was a WONDERFUL man: intelligent, wise, witty, charitable, generous, charming, just a wonderful person. Surely, his family and close friends will miss him greatly, as will the great many others of us who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing or working with him. - Bob Berger

I am in total shock. I believe Mr. Laner to be one of the fairest people I have ever had the honor to work for. I was his secretary for nearly 20 years and he will truly be missed. Daryl, Lynn and Ken, I am so sorry for your loss.
