I must be the last person to learn about Boris' tragic death. Today I called to schedule a haircut with him and heard the terrible news. Then I read the news stories about the accident, which made it all the more upsetting. I can't imagine what his family is feeling. But rather than dwell on that senseless tragedy, let me offer my condolences to Boris' family and say a few words about this good person we lost. Boris was a funny guy with a piercing sense of humor, sometime dark, which I found refreshing after a long day at the office. I enjoyed hearing his stories about hockey, growing up in Ukraine, the barbershop, his family, his dog, and his motorcycle trips. The motorcycle stories, especially, were a fascinating view into another world I knew nothing about. With every haircut I came away feeling I had learned something new. He'd been cutting my hair for at least 15 years, taking over after Dominick passed away. Boris is 7 years my junior ... much too early to leave this world. Rest in peace, Boris.
